Several years ago (more like 10) I found at a yard sale and bought 15 reprint volumes of Model Engineer. This included the very first volumes 1 to 12. I was hooked. Since then I have acquired the beginnings of an extensive collection, as well as lathe, milling machine, various tools. Anyway here is some information about my collection, as well as some links to others who have Index's to Model Engineer.

I am looking for the bound reprint issues for anything prior to 1940. Original issues after this year are preferable to reprints.

Volumes in ME came out one volume per year in 1898. In 1901 they started printing an issue twice a month. They created two volumes per year. Then they went to one issue a week, but still kept the two volumes per year sequence. IE Jan to June was one volume and July to Dec was another volume for most years. Then in 1964 they started doing the whole year again as a one volume designation, with the reprints in two bound books for some of those years. Not sure why but when I get to that issue I am sure I will read an article on it. They also went to the twice a month printing in 1964 as well. In 1982 they went back to the split volume per year cycle. Which still remains in effect as to this day as does the twice a month printing.
